The Washington Capitals signed centre David Steckel to a one-year contract extension earlier today for 2009-10. The deal is rumoured to be for $750,000/year. In 67 games with the Caps last season, Steckel, 26, recorded 5 goals and 12 points, in his first full year with the team.
