HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

The Whole Habbi Thing

The Colorado Avalanche had what I thought was a wicked goalie pair of Theodore - Budaj but after some things started to roll that great pair was split up after Washington snatched Jose. So then I sat their trying to defend Francois Giguere, saying stuff like "it wasn't his fault" and "we just couldn't offer enough money" but as day after day went without us acquiring another goalie I finally stopped defending my teams GM. Yes, the "good" fan probably wouldn't turn on his GM but seriously, look at the guys who are now going to be between the pipes for my Avs and you'll laugh. Like let's just take a look at the Colorado Avalanche goalies:

Andrew Raycroft:
GP W L OT MIN GA SO GAA
19 2 9 5 964 63 1 3.92

(I mean come on, if the stats don't prove it I'll get a Leafs fan to tell you how bad he was!)

Peter Budaj:
GP W L OT MIN GA SO GAA
35 16 10 4 1912 82 0 2.57

(these numbers are backup goalie numbers in my opinin and even though I think he's definitely getting better, Peter isn't ready for starting time)

So the only way to get better between the pipes is going to be trading or signing a goalie and one goalies name who's been bounced around is Nikolai Khabibulin's and that's been my target alllll off-season. So now I look at what we'd have to give up and I've already got a idea ready. Here is what I'm thinking trade - wise:

Chicago Get's:
Tyler Arnason
Ben Guite

Colorado Get's:
Nikolai Khabibulin

That way Chicago is shedding 7 mil of cap space and just getting somethingthing like 2 in return and really I see them getting an upgrade from Bolland in Guite and then you also get quite a great guy in Arnason as well. Then Colorado get's a fantastic goalie with Nikolai and will do a heck of a lot better with him! Also, we could put Budaj or Raycroft in the minors and then can be a goalie on - call as we'd call him up every game or two and swith it up and everything!

So yes according to a few sources I've talked to, the Habbi situation is going to heat up very soon and Colorado will be running and gunning and all he said was that Chicago wanted to shell salary and Arnason was for grabs so take it for what it's worth!

So thank ya'll for reading my blog and any of you can email me Av questions at lakeeriemonstersfan4life@hotmail.com and I'll be sure to answer as my life is Avs hockey and when I'm not talking about Colorado I'm bored!

Thanks, Banjo!

Sundin Decision Day

This has been dragging out for a long long time now, and we are all getting tired of it I'm sure. With Sundin dismissing the rumors of an August 1st deadline, this could go on for longer yet. Well, I talked to numerous people from Montreal throughout the day today and while the Habs organization still feel very confident that they will land Sundin, everything else is quiet in Habland. Not much going on is what I'm saying.

From what I have gathered from the people i contacted, this is what Gainey's plans seem to be. Sundin's D-Day could be the happiest days of our lives or could be what some Hab fans would call a darker day. Basically what I am hearing is that if Sundin signs with the Habs they will be getting rid of Mathieu Dandenault's salary and would bring up a younger defencemen from the farm team to be the #7 D-Man.

However, if Sundin decides to reject the Habs offer and sign elsewhere, or retire, the Habs will most likely be keeping Dandy around and will also announce the signing of Patrice Brisebois for the #7 D-man role. So we will most likely either end up with Sundin + Valentenko(?) - Dandenault or Dandenault + Brisebois.

Schneider on the Chopping Block…..AGAIN!!!!!!

According to numerous rumor sites, Mathieu Schneider will be on the move .The teams that seem to show some interest are the Flyers (need the puck moving d-man),Tampa Bay (I hope they get him or else the defense will be there undoing),Ottawa( Redden’s replacement) and finally Florida(interesting…very interesting).

Lightning Sign Stamkos...

According to the St. Petersburg Times, the Tampa Bay Lightning have signed the 1st overall pick in the 2008 entry draft, Steven Stamkos. As expected he has gotten the maximum for a rookie, signing for 3 years at $850k plus $2.4mil in bonuses. The Lighting cap hit will be around $3.25mil. The Bolts will make the signing official tomorrow at the opening of there rookie camp in British Columbia. The rookie camp will also include the likes of newly acquired Ty Wishart and former 1st round draft pick, goaltender Riku Helenius among 17 others. The event will be held at owner Len Barrie's Bear Mountain Resort in Victoria British Columbia, and will be open to the public.

IMO: Nothing shocking here. This was expected from the beginning.

Glass still a Sens

The Ottawa Senators signed goalie Jeff Glass to a one year, two-way deal. The terms are still unknown.

The Sens third round choice in the 2004 entry draft, played with Binghampton, the Senators AHL affiliate team. He 15 of his 39 games, with a 2.88 GAA and a save percentage of ,913.

Quotes From JM on Bouwmeester

4.8 Million deal
Would have been higher if they went to arb.

"We're real happy to have been able to get an agreement with Jay and his agent,'' general manager Jacques Martin said. "We feel it satisfied both parties. It’s a fair deal for us, a fair deal for what he brings to the table. He’s a young player, one who plays a lot of minutes and a lot of different situations. It's good to have this behind us.

"I think at least to have him and be able to come to an agrrement showed some progress. Two years ago, we went to arbitration with him. This shows good faith by both partes. This is a chance for Jay to step in and help our team progress. We feel we’re going to have some success with the moves we made.''

Problem is, if Jay thinks the Panthers are continuing to to sink, he's moving on.

"I'm glad Jay is on board. Sometime during the season, hope to get it long term,'' JM said. "We’re progressing. We want to have a good start to the season, then address the issue.
"We have a player who was a third overall pick, a kid who is a winner, a competitor. He wants to get into the playoffs, win a championship. We feel with him signed now, we can use this year to show where we’re going.''

Adding Fuel To The Fire(J-BO SITUATION)

Although Many People Now Think That The Fact Bouwmeester Has Signed Ends Any and All Speculation of him being traded but in fact in increases the chances he does. Maybe he will be traded in a couple days maybe it will be at the deadline we dont know but what I do know is that if him signing this one year deal allows the Panthers to keep looking for a better offer than what they started with. Jacques Martin and the Florida Management know that J-Bo WANTS OUT and im assuming this is along the lines of there plan.

Bouwmeester Signs 1 Year

and 1 day before his hearing. Is a trade coming soon?

stay tuned.

Hidden Talent

Hey Everyone I Found A Tampa Bay Lightning Fan With Some Hidden Talent Of Blogging Heres The Blog Hope You Enjoy He'd Love Comments So Put Some Up!

The Tampa Bay Lightning picked up many players through Free Agency and even though my opinion isn't always agreed with I'm going to list it anyway! So what do I think of our recently signed players? I think greatly of them but I do think some of them were just a little use-less. For example, the Adam Hall signing. Like I know Adam is young & fast but we already had a bunch of RW's racked up and if we wanted to be balanced we could've spared Hall for a LW or two. So yeah I like the amount of signings we made this year but I do feel like Feaster should have look at the players positions before buying into em'. So now I'm going to list the new players we acquired and the pro & con of each one.

Ryan Malone

Pro: We finally got a solid 2nd line RW | Well we've got Ryan locked up for so long, I worry he's going to get into a long slump and we'll be stuck.

Con: Well we've got Ryan locked up for so long, I'm worried some big thing will put him out of play and then we'll be stuck with him for a long 7 years.

Final: Good Signing

Radim Vrbata

Pro: Well Radim brings 8 seasons of experience with him and has quite the scoring touch which will always help a team in need like us!

Con: With him making 3 mil. per season just seems a little too much for a 56 pointer. Like I just don't know why we acted like we were in need of RW's as like I said before, we had a bunch even before we came into the season and we should have invested in LW's!

Final: O.K. Signing

Mark Recchi

Pro: Mark lit the lamp for a while in Atlanta, I mean being 40 and scoring 14 goals is fine by me and Recchi also brings that locker room presence to the Bolts a long with some fantastic hockey experience.

Con: He's 40!!! I mean I don't want to sound rude but he is pretty darn old and probably only has a season left so why did Jay even pay that million to get an old, rusty RW? Like I wouldn't be suprised if Feaster's moto is "You Can Never Have Enough RW's" as he just kept on signing him and it started to disgust me.

Final: Bad Signing

Gary Roberts

Pro: This guy is a huge presence in the locker room and my god, fans love him! He's full of charisma as well and can use his strength to give himself space to pass the puck. Can also block quite nicely. Also he's a LW, so at least we some-what improved our depth at that position!

Con: He's 46!!! I mean he's older than Rick but in my mind has a lot more value than him too with all his charisma, muscle & knowledge but he also brings a lot less speed and doesn't really bring any kind of scoring touch.

Final: O.K. Signing

Olaf Kolzig
Pro: The Bolts had a fine pair of goalies in my opinion but by adding Olaf we have a "consistent" goalie pair as Kari was hot & cold and we couldn't really count on him but Smitty can win many games in a row and with Kolzig, when he does good, he does real good and when he does bad, he does real bad so at least he keeps either a losing streak or a winning streak.

Con: Kolzig is getting a little injury prone at 38 and we will have to remember that he is just a backup as if we start him again and again he'll definitely get injured.

Final: Good Signing

So yeah folks, hope you loved my blog and I'll be sure to post another soon!
Thanks,
Ayden

If J-Bo Gets Crowned....Will He Reign For Longer Than 1?

So I received an e-mail this morning about if Jay Bouwmeester gets traded to the LA Kings would he even sign an extension with them? Here is my answer to the question:

Although it is a sort of situation like the Florida Panthers the Kings have a more promising future. In nets they have Jonathan Bernier And Jonathan Quick. On D They Have:Jack Johnson (if he does not get traded for J-Bo), Thomas Hickey and more recently Drew Doughty . And on Offense they have Anze Kopitar, Dustin Brown and others. Could you imagine J-Bo on a D pairing with Drew Doughty??? IN THE WORDS OF PIERRE MCGUIRE THAT WOULD BE MONSTER!

Another reason: look at all that cash lying there with LA. The Kings need to get to the minimum cap limit and could give Bouwmeester a big contract to help them get there. Some people say money is not everything but for some of these guys, ITS THE ONLY THING.

BOTTOM LINE: Can Bouwmeester Get Traded To Kings And Remain A King For More Than 1 Year......??? YES!
