Maple Leafs Management Shakeup?

Despite everything that Eklund saying being a lie he has finally said something that may be true!

Tonight when I talked to Darren Dreger he said there are rumblings that a shakeup is on the horizon in the Upper Echelon of Leafs Management.

Word on the street is that due to the current situation in Anaheim with the Samuelis there was a clause in Brian Burkes contract that he could ask for his release if there were any legal problems with the team or ownership.

There is speculation tonight that Burke has done just that and may be on the verge of being named the GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Fan 590's Howard Berger has been saying all summer that Burke would be named GM of the Leafs before the beginning of training camp. He may have been right!

Stay tuned everyone the Leafs situation is getting good.

Maple Leafs sign Andre Deveaux

The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced the signing of 6-foot-4, 240-pound Andre Deveaux from the Chicago Wolves, the recent Calder Cup champions.

The fourth rounder from the Habs will increase the grit factor on a team that was lacking it last season.

Jokinnen trade hampered by McCabe

Brian McCabes stubborness is holding up any trade with the Lightning but the Leafs still have a small window to trade Kubina if McCabe still refuses. As 1st reported by HB it was speculated that the Leafs had a trade in the works that would have seen Jokinnen and Halpern become Leafs this week.

Its been said however that McCabe once again nixed a deal and the trade was stopped. I would think that if Fletcher can't get McCabe to waive by Friday he will go ahead and move Kubina for the winger and center.

No matter what though I believe this is only hurting McCabes value as no team will want to work with a guy that is obviously only in the game for money. No one can give me the "He has a right line" because when a player says your only option is to buy him out that shows unoquivical proof the player only plays for a paycheck.

I believe this situation will more than likely play itself out in the next 5 to 7 days.

Boll Gets Injured in the most Unlikely Situation

According to the Columbus Dispatch, right winger Jared Boll came back to Columbus on Monday and broke his hand playing shinny a week ago……what is shinny you ask, well its pickup hockey. Boll got the puck hard on his glove thus causing the injury. But on to the burning question, is it a violation in a hockey player’s contract to play pickup hockey even thought the contract says that players are restricted to limited physical activities? Well Howson said no, he said that shinny is actually a pretty good way for a player to prepare for the upcoming season. Look for Boll to be back in shape at the BJ’s veteran training camp on September 19.

More on the Filatov front…..
The Blue Jackets are expecting first-round draft pick Nikita Filatov to receive his working visa from the U.S. Consulate in Moscow within one to three weeks but Filatov said he will get it in 10 days. Although on the down side the investigation on his contract is not over thus its still restricting from international events.
