Will moves happen tomorrow?

Bob Mckenzie from TSN was quoted on OTR today as saying that he thinks that the leafs will move Pavel Kubina to the San Jose Sharks tomorrow sealing a deal that could have gone down at the trade deadline if it were not for Kubina using his NTC to stop the deal from going down.

The deal was said to be fore Kyle Mclaren. It's unknown whether the deal would stay the same or if something else would be involved but my guess is that it may be the same exact deal.

As for other leaf Rumors The silver fox has shot down any moves for over the hill high priced free agents saying that any players he pick up will be under the age of 30 so Patrick Marleau is out of the question not so much because of age but because of the fact that his NTC kicks in and his salary raises as well.

McKenzie has stated that Fletcher would like to move up in the Draft to about the 5th spot leading to speculation that McCabe could be involved in a trade to secure that 5th spot. Bob has stated that the Leafs would like a shot at either drafting Alex Pietrangelo or Luke Schenn.

It has been said the the Islanders want to draft Nikita Filatov so if they believe that he will go lower then 5 they could trade down.

In other news there are rumors swirling that Malkin may be traded to L.A for their 2nd pick in the draft. I think that Brian Murray best summed up the chances of Malkin being moved when he said that he called Ray Shero to see if he could be part of any deal for Malkin and Shero laughed in his face.

Mckenzie has also stated that he believes that besides Kubina that Alex Tanguay, Erik Cole, and Joni Pitkanen may be on the move on Friday along with the rights to Brian Campbell that are apparently up for grabs. Brian Murray was said to have tried to trade the negotiating rights of Wade Redden but found no takers.

It will be fun to see what happens tomorrow I know I will be watching

Mccabe Won't Move...Or Will He.......NO!

According to Sportsnet Leafs D-man Bryan McCabe refuses to waive his no-movement clause. When McCabe's agent heard about these rumors he had this to say:

"We continue to hear that the Leafs want to trade Bryan McCabe. Bryan has a no-move clause in his contract that was negotiated with and agreed to by the Leafs. Bryan is not inclined to waive the no-move clause,"

Lightning,Lecavalier Close to "Lifelong" Contract?

According to RDS the Tampa Bay Lightning and Star Center Vincent Lecavalier are close to a deal that would last the rest of Vinny's career. Lecavalier will make 7.167 million dollars this year in his final year of a 4-year contract. Lecavalier who finished with 92 points last year and the Lightning organization have stated that talks have made great progress and the "Lifelong" deal could be signed just after July 1st.

Rumors From Corus Sports From Today At The Draft

The Leafs met with pending free-agent forward Mats Sundin in a last ditch attempt to resign him apparently the talks did not go to well. It's looking more and more like Sundin will hit the free-agency market.

Apparently the Montreal Canadiens may have offered Mark Streit a contract. From what Corus Sports hears if the Habs aren't able to come to an agreement the sens will pick Streit up to replace D-man Wade Redden who will not return to the Ottawa Senators.

Rumor has it the Canucks are willing to trade the Sedin Twins for a big package including Jason Spezza as they are looking for an impact forward. They have not had an impact forward since really Todd Bertuzzi.

Canes Acquire Hordichuk,Re-Sign Gleason

Per TSN:The Carolina Hurricanes have acquired forward Darcy Hordichuk from the Nashville Predators in exchange for a 5th round pick in 2009. The Hurricanes also announced the re-signing of Tim Gleason to a 4 year deal worth an average of 2.75 million per year.

Burke Gives Niedermayer A Call , Decision Put On Hold

Ducks GM Brian Burke heard that Scotty Niedermayer was going to give him a decision by Friday before the draft. Firs thing Brian Burke does gives Scotty a call. TSN's Darren Dreger reports that Brian Burke has actually given Niedermayer until July 1st to decide on if hes going to retire or if he is going to call it a career. This comes just a day after Niedermayer stated he's going to give burke his decision by Friday.

Marleau to Jackets?

According to Sportsnet and The Columbus Dispatch Ken Hitchcock, the coach of the Blue Jackets arrived in Ottawa yesterday and met up with the rest of the Jackets officials. The Jackets expect to be major players in this draft with two first round picks and it's not like there shying away from shopping them in fact they have made it crystal clear that both picks are available for the right package. Now its been rumored for awhile now that Marleau may be traded to the Jackets but now the rumors are running rampant. The deal would be Marleau to the Jackets in exchange for a package that would include winger Nikolai Zherdev and more than likely there 2nd 1st round pick 19th overall.

Pens Dangling Malkin?

A report out of the Toronto Sun has the Penguins talking trade possibly with the LA Kings. Rumor has it the pens are asking for a big package that would include LA Star forward Mike Cammalleri and the LA Kings 1st round draft pick,2nd Overall for this year. If this is indeed true then the Penguins are going to take a d-man second overall almost certainly who would it be Bogosian,Pietrangelo or Doughty bottom line that would probably mean that there defenseman Ryan Whitney is gone for sure.

Unlikely Robbie Schremp Will Get Moved

According to the Edmonton journal's Jim Matheson the Edmonton Oilers are unlikely to shop talented prospect Robbie Schremp. Reports out of news papers over past weeks have stated that the Oilers could move Schremp in order to move up in the draft and pick a highly touted prospect that they have obviously been eying.

Jokinen Asks To Be Traded As Rumors Swirl

As the speculation of Florida Panthers forward Olli Jokinen was going to be traded there was more gas added to the fire. Sources tell TheFourthPeriod.com that Jokinen has ask the Panthers to trade him. When that came out a rumor flew around the draft that a rumored deal between the Senators and the Panthers could go down and the deal would look like this:

To Florida:Jason Spezza and Andrej Meszaros

To Ottawa:Olli Jokinen and Jay Bouwmeester

Now personally I don't know how true this rumor is but this is My Take:

In my honest opinion if the Panthers do this it makes them look like they don't want a franchise anymore. you send your two best players in my opinion to the Sens for a really good player in Spezza and a good d-man in Meszaros. This is just my opinion and opinions can turn out either way but my guess is the sens have to add one more piece to that such as a Fischer or a Vermette.

Hossa Rumors False?

Marian Hossa's agent, Rich Winter told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that the rumors of a 7-year deal between 50 and 52 million offered to Hossa are completely FALSE. Winter went on to say that there is not even one thing thats even close to true in these rumors. Hossa, who made 7 million this past year is said to be asking for about 8 million per year for the future but reports out of Pittsburgh papers is that he would take a sort of hometown discount to be able to play with the likes of Sidney Crosby.
