Alex Pietrangelo

When the draft order was established a couple of months ago I was ecstatic that the Blues ended up with the fourth pick overall in the draft. Alex Pietrangelo was listed by many websites as the 4th overall pick. I have had the pleasure of watching Alex play in the OHL for the Niagara Ice Dogs since I am a season ticket holder. Alex has the ability and skill to be an elite player in the NHL. Hes a puck moving defenseman who plays well defensively and is never out of position. The scouts rave about how he has Chris Prongers size and skill. He doesn't have the mean streak that Chris has and I don't think he has that kind of personality.

Pietrangelo had 13 goals and 40 assists for Niagara of the OHL, including 20 points in his final 11 games. Pietrangelo also had five goals in six playoff games before he was sidelined with mono-related complications. When Alex did go down in the playoffs the ice dogs seemed to disappear and were ousted from the playoffs very quickly.

With Alex and Erik Johnson the blues seem to have two very talented defenseman to build a contender around.

Great Blog! The Blues Sure Do Have A Pretty Bright Future A Couple More Years And A Couple High Picks And They'll Be Ready To Go. Maybe A New Goalie Unless They Want To Develop The Goalies They Have Now.
