If the Rangers were smart, they would've kept Nylander and not signed Gomez and the coke addict that is Wade Redden. They also shouldn't have signed the man that is going to put every bakery in New York out of business, Dmitri Kalinin (He has more turnovers than a New York bakery). This is the classic Ranger way though. Sign a bunch of free agents, then fall flat on your face.

Scoop of the year if this is true.

However if Sundin was set to join the Rangers.. would he still leave all those other teams hanging?

This is no scoop. It's the same story that Larry Brooks of the NY Post was reporting a couple of days ago. The story has been directly refuted by JP Barry. A bunch of sites, including TSN, have quotes directly from Barry saying he hasn't had any more detailed discussions with the NYR than he's had with anyone else and also saying that Mats still hasn't decided if he's even going to play this year.

It looks to me like The Fourth Period is about three rumors behind the rest of the hockey world.

They also said that Rozsival is likely to be traded. But that wouldn't be enough cap space is Sundin gets 7 million. If it is the Rangers then Rozsival and Prucha would have to go in order to have enough cap space.

Unfortunately i believe Sather is a little smarter than this!
A) he knows its not a good idea to revamp his entire line-up to get 1 year (2 yr max) out of an aging Matt.
B) If Mats was going to the Rangers, and they had to clear cap space, by leaking the news to anyone seriously puts them at a disadvantage! the balance of power in trade negotiations shifts to the other team.
Hence, considering i give Sather a bit more respect in the GM world, i do not believe Sundin is going to NYR..... at least not right now
