Jokinnen trade hampered by McCabe

Brian McCabes stubborness is holding up any trade with the Lightning but the Leafs still have a small window to trade Kubina if McCabe still refuses. As 1st reported by HB it was speculated that the Leafs had a trade in the works that would have seen Jokinnen and Halpern become Leafs this week.

Its been said however that McCabe once again nixed a deal and the trade was stopped. I would think that if Fletcher can't get McCabe to waive by Friday he will go ahead and move Kubina for the winger and center.

No matter what though I believe this is only hurting McCabes value as no team will want to work with a guy that is obviously only in the game for money. No one can give me the "He has a right line" because when a player says your only option is to buy him out that shows unoquivical proof the player only plays for a paycheck.

I believe this situation will more than likely play itself out in the next 5 to 7 days.

The Leafs signed the contract just as much as McCabe did and he's playing in the rules in which he's allowed. Stings the Leafs fans I'm sure but it is his contractual right.

If Cliff moves Kubina to TB for Jokienen and Halpern and lands no picks or prospects I'm going to be very dissapointed. Kubina is worth more than Jussi and Halpern and i hope that if that's the best they can get then toronto keeps Pavel.

I believe there would be some picks involved. But I think the Leafs would have to give up at least a 3rd as well.

You have to give to receive and I think a 2nd or a 3rd with Halpern and Jokinnen would be fine.

Maybe McCabe needs the Larry Murphy treatment in order to help him change his mind...

Great blog The Source...but Kubina for Jokinen is almost criminal,at least maybe say that if Kubina will be thrown in there the lightning might give say..ooh Bochenski or Ouellet as an add in.

Jokinen and Halpern for Kubina makes more sense salary wise ... a 2nd rounder as well (with no picks going the other way) would be nice.

Anybody know if any other teams have inquired about Kubina (in case the deal with TBay falls through)?
