LANG TO HABS RUMORS FALSE
According to a member of the TEAM 990 Montreal sports radio staff, The Robert Lang to habs rumors are false. He did not dismiss that the habs weren't up to something but Lang is not in the near future unless something drastic happens.

MCCABE TO BOLTS FALSE
According to a top source Brian McCabe will not accept a trade to the Tampa Bay Lightning. As many of you know rumors were swirling that A trade may go down that would include the Maple Leafs receiving Jussi Jokinen in a package.

VLASIC RECEIVES EXTENSION FROM THE SHARKS(WE ARE FIRST TO REPORT THIS)
With 1 year remaining on his contract with the Sharks, Marc Edouard Vlasic has been given a contract extension. The deal is reportedly a 4 year extension. It still must be processed by the league however.

SHANNY OFF BROADWAY
I talked to a guy close to the Brendan Shanahan and the New York Rangers situation and he told me that Shanny will NOT be returning to the Rangers.

UPDATE: Blues are definitely interested in his services. Shanahan would much rather stay in the east then head out west.

Caps extend David Steckel

The Washington Capitals signed centre David Steckel to a one-year contract extension earlier today for 2009-10. The deal is rumoured to be for $750,000/year. In 67 games with the Caps last season, Steckel, 26, recorded 5 goals and 12 points, in his first full year with the team.

Gun Slinging Lombardi Sends a Warning to Other Teams

Today The Los Angeles Kings GM Dean Lombardi issued a warning to other GM's looking to sign his restricted free agents. Here are some quotes. " We're not only going to match any offer sheet, we'll have enough space to go after your guys. Go ahead and make our day. If you sign our guy, we're coming back with both barrels firing. You'd better be damn straight that you have the cap space and all your guys are signed." He also said any trade rumors about Kopitar and Jack Johnson are 100% false. He also address the rumors that he might be fired saying " Ownership in Los Angeles is committed to the long-term plan he's developing." He mentioned how he is building a team like the New England Patriots and other NBA teams. These are all good things that beat up Kings fans needed to hear. But still no word on OSullivan's and Stoll's new contracts.

Chad Kilger sitting out next season

Former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Chad Kilger will not play next season due personal off-ice issues. Kilger, 31, played 53 games last season with the Leafs, recording 10 goals and 17 points. He was traded to the Panthers at the trade deadline, but never reported to his new team. He was suspended by the Panthers as a result, so his salary wouldn't count against the salary cap.

Giuliano and Muir heading to Europe as well

Toronto Marlies Bryan Muir signed a contract with the Dinamo Minsk. Muir, 35, last played in the NHL for the Washington Capitals in 2006-07. During his NHL career, he also played for the Oilers, Avalanche, Black Hawks, Devils, Lightning and Kings.

LA Kings Jeff Giuliano also signed a contract with the Dinamo Minsk. The 29 year-old forward played 53 games last season, notching 6 points.

The terms of both deals are unknown.

Jean-Philippe Lamoreaux

I was announced today former UND standout goaltender, J-P Lamoreaux has signed a one-year contract with the St. Louis Blues.

Lamoreaux was overlooked by most teams because he is small-in-stature, but impressed the Blues organization this summer when he was asked to participate in prospect camp. Lamoreaux will likely start the year with the Alaska Aces, the Blues ECHL affiliate, while Marek Schwarz and Ben Bishop are the favorites to compete for playing time in Peoria.

Dan Cloutier Update

OK lets get everyone caught up on this situation. The Kings bought out Cloutier's contract and released him. Cloutier then filed a grievance saying he was still injured. That would nullify the buy out and Cloutier would remain on the Kings roster and would continue to be paid if a doctor concluded that he was still in fact injured. 2 Kings doctors said Cloutier was NOT injured and was cleared to play. Cloutier then found a private doctor that said he was still injured and is not in playing condition. So that put the buy out on hold. Thats where we have been for a few weeks now.

UPDATE. The league has agreed that Cloutier's buy out stands. So officially Cloutier is off the Kings roster and they do not have to pay his salary. A arbitrator is still going to address this situation but that is just a formality and Dan Cloutier is officially a UFA. Any takers?
