Tavares Finds New Agent

With this years NHL entry draft only about 3 days away, next years draft is still getting into the news, well kind of. Next years projected 1st overall pick , John Tavares has found himself a new agent just over a month after he decided to go separate ways with agent Bryan Deasley. Tavares has signed on with the Los Angeles based Creative Artists Agency's Pat Brisson.

The CAA is currently dealing with players already in the big leagues such as the 1st overall pick at last years NHL draft,Patrick Kane and one of the NHL elites, another 1st overall pick in Sidney Crosby.

This is what Pat Brisson of the agency had to say about the CAA signing with Tavares:

"John has a bright future ahead," said CAA agent Pat Brisson. "CAA Hockey is looking forward to working with him and his family, and providing them our resourses."

Hossa Offered 7-year deal!

The Penguins star acquisition from the 2007 NHL trade Deadline has reportedly been offered a 7-year deal worth upwards of 50 million. Most of the Penguins off season is dependent on if they can get the deal done. If they can get the deal done then it is almost certain that Defensemen Brooks Orpik and Forward Ryan Malone will not be with the team next year.

Busy Blue Jackets!?!?!?!

According to TheFourthPeriod.com: The Columbus Blue Jackets are receiving calls about there 2 1st round picks at this weeks NHL Entry Draft in Ottawa. Teams interested are reportedly the San Jose Sharks, the Ottawa Senators, the Florida Panthers and The Montreal Canadiens.

TheFourthPeriod is also reporting that the Jackets are after Olli Jokinen of the Florida Panthers. Columbus has apparently offered Nikolai Zherdev and the 6th overall pick.

My take on Olli Jokinen trade is that this is just to kick start talks because in my opinion there is no way the Panthers agree to this deal.

Langkow Agrees To Terms With Flames

Flames forward Daymond Langkow has agreed to terms on a deal reportedly 4 years and about 5 million per year. Rumor has it though that the Flames are going to wait until July 1st to ink the deal because this deal will put them over the Salary cap and come July 1st teams are aloud to exceed the cap by maximum of 10% and can use the rest of the summer to get down below the regular salary cap before the season begins.

Per:The Calgary Sun

Ryan Malones Rights To Columbus Almost a Done Deal.

The Columbus Dispatch reports a deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Columbus Blue Jackets is very close. The Blue Jackets would receive the rights to Penguins forward Ryan Malone. The Jackets have a deal to offer Malone and its said to be between 4.5 and 5.5 million dollars and for about 4 years. Malone, who is a UFA this year had a career year finishing with 27 goals. The Penguins will probably not be able to resign him due to the fact that they have to many players to resign this off season and not enough money to create a bit of wiggle room under the cap.

Other Teams reportedly interested in Malone are the Minnesota Wild and the Vancouver Canucks.
